Dublin star Jonny Cooper spoke today for the need to restructure the football calendar. The Na Fianna defender was speaking today ahead of Dublin's Leinster Championship semi final with Kildare next week.
Cooper told the gathered press that a restructuring of the calendar was needed as he felt the club players were losing out in the increasingly inter-county centric calendar.
"I see no reason to condense championshp games down to a two week gap". Cooper feels that format may give club teams a few extra weeks in the of the year to complete championships.
Waiting three of weeks to play, can alter performances according to Cooper. He spoke about how many Dublin players have been able to play in two rounds of their county championship since their Allianz League Final win over Cork at the end of April.
