'I don't think Philly McMahon can mark Clifford'- Kieran Donaghy

There are a number of mouth-watering match-ups going into this Sunday's All-Ireland final. When it comes to who will mark David Clifford, Kieran Donaghy isn't convinced with Dublin's options.

Speaking on Friday's OTB AM, the former Kerry footballer thinks he will be a handful for the Dublin defenders.

"I don't think Cian [O'Sullivan] can mark Clifford and I don't think Philly [McMahon] can mark Clifford either.

"I think Philly could mark Clifford five years ago but it's a tall task now.

"No doubt he will bring the dark arts but you can bring that to Clifford and he's well able for all that," Donaghy said.

Another intriguing match-up is who will mark Tommy Walsh if he starts or comes on for Kerry this Sunday.

Tipperary footballer Michael Quinlivan was in studio and he said there a number of potential options.

First-hand experience

"It depends whether [Michael] Fitzsimmons goes in on top of Tommy Walsh.

"Johnny Cooper will pick up [Michael] Geaney I would say as well, which means the third defender will pick up Clifford.

"If Tommy [Walsh] comes on, the chances are Dublin turn around and send Rory O'Carroll on top of him," Quinlivan said.

Donaghy is convinced that O'Carroll is the right man to pick up Tommy Walsh, having had first-hand experience playing against him.

"He's matched up against me fine in an All-Ireland final and he's big, strong and aggressive.

"He would probably be ideally matched so that if I saw Tommy Walsh jogging on with 20 minutes to go he would probably my guy," Donaghy said.
