Cork's Brian Murphy, could be in line for a return to the side as they face Waterford in their Munster hurling championship opener.
The 2006 All-Star has returned to the panel this season and his boss Jimmy Barry Murphy says he could play an important role against the Deise.
"He was somebody who was always on our radar. I asked him last year, but he had a number of reasons why he couldn't do it. This year he played very, very well with his club, we had a number of injuries defensively and we approached him and asked if there was any chance that he would be available and he said he would. So that was a major boost and his experience will be a big help to us on the day."
Meanwhile, it's still uncertain whether Seamus Harnedy will line out against Waterford this weekend.
Harnedy has been kept out of action since the league final with a hamstring problem and will be assessed by Cork management at training tomorrow night.
