Former Mayo manager James Horan has praised Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice's handling of the Tomas O'Se situation ahead of the crucial Munster football final against Cork.
Ex-Kingdom star O'Se was hugely critical of Cork but Kerry's players and their manager were quick to shoot down any notion that they bought into any of those views.
Horan will be one of our Off The Ball match-day commentators for Sunday's Munster final which we will broadcast live and on tonight's show, he praised Fitzmaurice's response to the O'Se comments.
"Kerry came out very strong and I thought Eamonn Fitzmaurice, as he always is, was excellent again in his response. He sort of praised Tom O'Se on one hand and cut his legs off in the same sentence," he said.
"Really what Kerry are trying to do is make sure that they're right and not really give Cork fodder that will help them prepare and focus them for the game. So you had strong quelling of any idea that Kerry would be complacent."
We were also joined by former Kerry full-back Barry O'Shea who feels O'Se's comments have been blown out of proportion to a degree.
"I mean, people are a bit naive to think that that's going to motivate Cork any more than Cork would have been motivated anyway. Cork had been written off by more people than Tomas O'Se," he said, adding that "in a perverse sort of way, it might actually help Kerry because it's probably after putting Kerry on their toes a little bit".
Horan and O'Shea also analysed both sides in-depth and you can listen into the full preview via the podcast.
Kerry v Cork is our live match on Off The Ball this Sunday with commentary from Oisin Langan, Colm Parkinson and Horan. Throw in is at 2PM.
