Chelsea have signed Asmir Begovic from Stoke City on a four deal contract.
The Bosnian joins the club as a replacement for Petr Cech. The Czech goalkeeper joined Arsenal earlier this summer. Begovic is expected to act as a back up for Belgian Thibaut Courtois, who impressed in his first season at the club.
Begovic's move to the Premier League champions was expected after Stoke signed Irish goalkeeper Shay Given last weekend. Begovic will replace Cech in the No. 1 shirt with Courtois holding onto his No. 13 shirt.
Speaking to Chelsea's website, The Bosnian stated; "I am very happy to be joining Chelsea FC. After speaking at length to the manager, I feel like I can develop here and be an important part of this team. I am looking forward to meeting up with the team on Wednesday for the pre-season tour."
After a spell at Portsmouth, where he was loaned out to numerous lower league clubs, Begovic made a name for himself at Stoke, where he spent five years under the tutelage to Tony Pulis and Mark Hughes. He also played for Bosnia-Herzegovina in last years World Cup as the country made their debut in the tournament.
