Geary gunning for parity with male GAA stars

Cork's Anna Geary says the Women’s Gaelic Players Association (WPGA) will aim to put player welfare conditions for camogie players and ladies footballers on a level with those enjoyed by their male counterparts.

Last year's All-Ireland-winning captain is an executive member of the newly formed WPGA, which will be formally launched in Dublin this morning.

“It is about providing the same experience for a camogie player or a ladies footballer as you would do for hurler or a footballer,” camogie star Geary told today's Irish Examiner“That’s what we want to replicate because it should be an equal status.”

“(The GPA) have been very supportive,” added Geary. “They’ve been able to guide us a small bit with what has worked and what hasn’t for them."
