'I acknowledge that we need to get that balance right between defence and attacking'

Dublin manager Jim Gavin has hinted that his team may need to tailor their ultra-attacking style slightly next season.

Gavin, was speaking to our own Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson, just over three weeks after the crushing defeat to Donegal in the All Ireland semi-final.

He hinted at a few potential tweaks in mentality, although he did emphasise that the "core philosophy" will remain intact.

"I accept responsibility for the attacking and expressive style we play and sometimes that brings a vulnerability and unpredictability to our game. But it's a learning experience and I acknowledge that we need to get that balance right between defence and attacking," he said.

Gavin, who led Dublin to Sam Maguire in 2013, is already planning for 2015.

"The plan is already in place for 2015. That's been signed off already so you're always preparing for the coming challenges," said Gavin.

The 43-year-old also told Wooly that he was not surprised by Kerry's All Ireland title win, saying that their playing resources perpetually give them a chance of success and backed the Kingdom as "worthy winners".

He described the final as a "tactical stalemate" but said that he enjoyed the game.

Wooly also caught up with forward Bernard Brogan, who revealed what it is like for a corner forward against a blanket defence, and you can listen to both interviews via the GAA podcast:
