Most of Galway's players will not play next year if Anthony Cunningham remains in charge

Anthony Cunningham's tenure in charge of Galway's hurlers may be entering its final days.

The Galway panel have voted against keeping Cunningham in charge for 2016 and most have confirmed they will not play under the current management team next season if they remain in charge.

The squad met last night ahead of a County Board meeting tonight to discuss their plans for next season. In a secret ballot overseen by an independent observer, 26 out of 32 voted "No" when asked if they had confidence in the current management.

23 said "No" with only nine voting "Yes" when asked if they would play under the current management team next season.

Galway's hurlers reached the All Ireland Hurling Final in September before losing to Kilkenny. Later that month, the players voted in favour of changing the management team, but Cunningham was confirmed as manager two days later for another year by the County Board.
