Tyrone claimed Division 2 honours against Cavan in a thrilling game at Croke Park this afternoon, winning out a scoreline of 1-17 to 0-15.
A goal mid-way through the second half from Ronan O'Neill proved the defining score as it gave Tyrone an insurmountable six point lead.
The Breffni county responded well initially to the goal, hitting three unanswered points, but they couldn't catch a wily Tyrone side who added further scores to kill the game off.
The game remained competitive right up until the final few minutes, as Cavan showed the progress they have made this season by keeping in touch with the 2008 All-Ireland Champions, but the experience of the Ulster giants saw them through in the end.
