Friends use commemorative GAA jersey to mark one year anniversary of Derry girl who died in Indonesia

Friends of a Derry born girl who died from extreme altitude illness last March, have designed a special GAA jersey to celebrate her memory.

Lisa Orsi (22) was holidaying in Indonesia when she fell ill and collapsed following a trek around a volcano. She was subsequently put on a life support machine for almost a month and was surrounded by her family when she passed away.

At the time of her death, Lisa was based in Singapore and was an active member of the Singapore Gaelic Lions club. In light of her dual love for travel and GAA, friends and family have come together to create a special initiative which celebrates her memory.

They have designed a specially crafted GAA jersey which includes the Kevin Bell repatriation logo, the Singapore Gaelic Lions crest and Lisa Orsi's name on the back. They also launched a 'Take Lisa With You' Facebook page which invites people to post up photos of themselves wearing the jersey in famous tourist destinations around the world.

The page has generated almost 1,500 likes already and today, friends, cousins and family members gathered to commemorate the one year anniversary of her death with a group photo of everyone wearing Lisa's jersey.
