Donegal goalkeeper Paul Durcan says the win over Dublin has been in gestation for the guts of nine months.
The Ulster champions put in a stunning display of football to upset the Dubs in yesterday's All Ireland semi-finals.
And in the wake of that achievement, we were joined on the line by two of the key players in Paul Durcan and Rory Kavanagh.
"We've been working since December. We've been working very hard and a lot of lads were thinking that it could be the last year for a lot of us. We sort of said that we had to put the head down. It's been a 10 month operation. That's how long it's taken but every minute of it has been enjoyable," said Durcan.
The five-day training camp in the lead up to the match also had its benefits according to the goalkeeper as it allowed the players to concentrate on the task at hand.
Kavanagh thinks it is arguably the greatest achievement for this group of All Ireland-winning Donegal players.
"It's right up there just because of the way the Dublin team were being built all year. They had been pummeling teams all year. They were favourites and rightly so and nobody could see them being beaten. But we were confident going into the game," said Kavanagh, who also added that he felt that he and his team-mates were "not being given enough respect" by analysts pre-game.
Donegal made a poor start to the game but Kavanagh picked out Durcan's save from Dublin forward Diarmuid Connolly as the turning point.
