Dublin footballer Jonny Cooper was injured early today in a knife attack in Dublin city centre. Cooper is recovering in the Mater Hospital.
The attack happened at approximately 5.30am this morning on Dorset Street on the north side of Dublin city centre.
Cooper’s club, Na Fianna, confirmed the Dublin star was “injured in an incident that is under Garda investigation”, with a tweet this afternoon.
We can confirm that Johnny Cooper was injured in an incident that is under Garda investigation, we would like to wish him a speedy recovery.

Cooper played in last night’s Dublin championship game between Na Fianna and Tempelogue Synge Street.
In a separate incident, a man in his twenties is in a serious condition following a stabbing in Blanchardstown. The incident happened at around 5:45am in the Whitestown Park area. He is being treated at Connolly Hospital.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to either incident to come forward.
