“Dublin reaching crescendo at the right time.”
Following Dublin’s 1-24 to 2-12 win over Galway in Croke Park to reach the All Ireland final and a possible fourth in a row we have Dublin legend Charlie Redmond give his take on the game.
Following a strong first half from Galway having missed a penalty and disrupted the boys in blue’ usual high standard the feeling at half time was more negative than what Dublin fans have become accustom to.
“I thought our first half performance wasn’t up to our normal standard.”
“At half time I was quite worried.”
“Galway brought a different dynamic, they’re the best team we’ve played this year.”
Dublin came out in the second half strong taking control of the game and holding out to win by nine points. Charlie shared his thoughts on why Dublin have become this dominant force in GAA and make a strong argument to being the best team to ever play the game.
“When other teams are struggling, Dublin can bring on the likes of O’Gara, McManaman and Michael Dara McAuley. They’re equally as good as the players coming off. They would’ve started for any other county in Ireland.”
“We also have without doubt the fittest team ever to take to a gaelic football pitch. They are magnificently prepared by Brian Cullen and the rest of the backroom team. One thing they won’t be caught for is energy at the end of a game.”
“Galway were assertive in the first half, they were putting in a lot of effort, but they couldn’t sustain that effort in the second half, but Dublin were able to.”
Jim Gavin’s men are now into the All Ireland final on the second of September and await the winners of Monaghan versus Tyrone as they go in search of their fourth All Ireland win in a row. Also, on this morning’s show we were joined by Dublin manager Jim Gavin and star Ciaran Kilkenny. We looked back at the weekends FAI Cup action and saw how the Dublin clubs fared. Roy Keane and Gary Neville paid tribute to their former team mate Liam Miller and Ireland hockey’s World Cup silver medallist Nicci Daly on their heroic performances.
