A number of high-profile Dublin GAA senior football players have engaged in a collective training session in breach of public health rules.
The Irish Independent has revealed that at least nine players engaged in a series of group training drills on Wednesday morning at the Innisfails GAA club in North Dublin.
Among those reported to be in the session were Footballer of the Year Brian Fenton, Jonny Cooper, and Brian Howard.
The development involving the All-Ireland champions is a setback to the GAA's plans to allow inter-county panels to return to collective training on April 19th.
In January of this year, Cork and Down were sanctioned after their inter-county panels were found to be in breach of Level 5 rules by collectively training.
And only this week, the Gardai confirmed they were investigating a team, believed to be a West Cork GAA club - for a COVID breach.
The Dublin County Board's website has as its front page a directive on COVID-19 rules from the GAA's Director-General, Tom Ryan, which states that "It is more important than ever that no collective training sessions are held between now and the Government indicated return dates.
"Breaches in this context will not only be dealt with under our own Rules but would likely put the broader plan to return to activity in serious jeopardy."
Off the Ball has asked the Dublin GAA County Board for a comment on the matter.
