The seaside town of Buncrana is grieving for the loss of five lives after a family day out tragically turned into a fatal incident last Sunday evening.
Five members of the McGrotty and Daniels families had stopped off at a pier when their vehicle slid on some algae which pulled the car into the water, drowning the occupants of the vehicle. The funerals of the victims who died, took place on Thursday.
A four-month old baby was miraculously rescued when her father passed her out through a broken window of the car to a man who swam out to help the family. Davitt Walsh is being hailed as a hero for bringing the baby back to shore and a campaign is currently taking place to have his name put forward for a Presidential award.
