Donegal advanced to the Ulster senior football championship in comprehensive fashion as they disposed of Armagh 2-11 to 0-08 in the Athletic Grounds.
Donegal got off to the ideal start with a Paddy McBrearty goal in the opening minutes and they never looked back. Donegal’s style of play with their ferocious defensive and quick counter attacking football caused Armagh problems from the off as the Orchard county couldn’t find time or space to produce scores of their own.
By half time Donegal had Armagh bet leading 1-09 to 0-2 with Armagh showing no signs of a comeback. Donegal killed off the tie early in the second half with Martin O’Reilly getting Donegal’s second goal of the game and killing off the contest.
Armagh did stem the flow of Donegal scores but it was more of Donegal killing the game than Armagh’s good work. Donegal will face Derry in the semi final of the Ulster football championship while the qualifiers await Armagh.
