Former Kerry centre-forward Declan O'Sullivan feels the Kingdom need to scrutinise their defensive strategy as they prepare for a Munster football final replay against Cork tomorrow.
The 31-year-old was on Off The Ball tonight to analyse a match that we will broadcast live tomorrow evening.
"Cork have areas to improve but Kerry are going to learn an awful lot of lessons - the main one being their defensive strategy. They're going to have to improve on that. It'll have to be more of a team defence," he said.
"The Cork back-line tore up the field [in the original game] and we were just chasing shadows and probably what Kerry will do is drop fellas a bit more and wait for them to come on to them, rather than pushing up and being turned and chasing the Cork half-back line down the field because that's very energy-sapping. If your defensive structure is working as it should, you shouldn't really have fellas chasing and harrying and last ditch tackles which was happening."
As for any rancour from Cork over refereeing decisions from the first game, O'Sullivan feels it would be a mistake to be thinking too heavily about them going into the replay.
"My argument would be they were a point up, they'd a couple of chances and a couple of frees. They didn't mind the ball and if that is the psyche in the Cork dressing room, if they're really hanging on all these decisions that have gone against them over the years, I'd be worried for them because you can't approach a game like that," he said.
