Davy Fitzgerald continued his start to life in Wexford with a a victory in the Walsh Cup on Sunday as his side outclassed Carlow.
Although they were dominant in the end and cruised to a 3-20 to 0-14 win, Fitzgerald stated that there were still a few areas to work on as the team looks to implement the system he wants.
Noting that his side were totally different between the first and second half, he added that there were words had at half-time about decision making on the pitch.
"Carlow probably deserved to be up four or five points, but if you look at the first half, we overplayed the ball a rake of times here in the centre. We could have shot, instead we got overturned.
"That 's what I said to them [during the break]; there's times you run, and there's times you shoot, and there was four or five examples where we should have shot the score. Instead we looked for the extra pass. We just have to be careful when the pass is on and when it's not on.
Although Carlow eventually relented and gave Wexford the chances to tuck away some goals and get breathing space on the scoreboard, Fitzgerald was quick to praise the efforts of his players and how they took to the instructions he delivered.
"We were miles better in the second half, the way we were moving the ball was way better," Fitzgerald said. "I thought one of the goals we got was as good as I've seen in a long time so, while we might have got two soft ones, I think we got one unreal one."
Typically frank, Fitzgerald was also left ruing a chance that got away which could have put even further gloss on the score.
"We should have had another one as well where we f***in took a point when we should have gone for a goal. That's the type of person I am - when you get a sniff, you go for it."

Despite the win, Fitzgerald stated that Carlow were on the right track, reserving particular praise for his opposite number, stating that Colm Bonnar was the right man for the job on the back of what he'd seen on the pitch.
"I saw some really good stuff from them, but I wish they could have fought it a bit better in the end. They did some great stuff at the start; their movement was good, their enthusiasm was unreal and I could see the way they were trying to work it. They've got to stay doing that. Colm Bonnar is a good man, just give him a chance and he'll bring on that."
Looking to the future, the former Clare manager said that he was enjoying his time with the Model County so far, but there was a long way to go on the road yet.
Asking the supporters for time, he noted that while results have been going their way early on, things would get tough and that's when he would need their backing and patience the most.
"It's a challenge, it's going to be tough going. I'm enjoying the drive every day up and down to Clare. The lads are giving me everything, but it's a process.
"This ain't gonna happen in two or three months, I've said that, but over the two years, they will be there or thereabouts."
