It's been oft-said over the years that Mayo lack a "marquee forward".
But with Aidan O'Shea's deployment at the point of attack, former Mayo star David Brady reckons they have found a player to fit that description.
Brady joined us on Off The Ball to analyse the match against Galway and he feels O'Shea's role will allow joint managers Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes to engineer their game-plan to their liking.
"I think now they have a marquee man in the full-forward line, which is going to add a massive amount to Mayo's game. Definitely from watching Mayo football, they kicked the ball more than any time in the last six or seven years without a doubt. The likes of Keith Higgins giving ball 20-30 yards up the line, that is what Connelly and Holmes are bringing to the game. They want a more direct approach, they don't want their half-backs coming forward as much."
Brady also praised Tom Parsons and feels he will be key as a "perfect foil" for Seamus O'Shea, and believes the changes give Cillian O'Connor more space to wreak havoc on opposition defences.
