Daly ponders future after Tipp defeat

Tipperary will face Cork in the All-Ireland hurling semi final next month. Tipp were comfortable winners over Dublin in their Quarter Final tie at Semple Stadium in Thurles this afternoon.

A brace of second half goals from John O'Dwyer helped Tipperary to a 2-23 to 0-16, with the Dubs never showing anything like the form that brought them to last year’s semi-final.

After the game Dublin manager Anthony Daly hinted that he may be about to quit as Dublin boss. The Clare man said to RTE: “I came to win an All-Ireland quarter-final today.

“There’s plenty of time over the next couple of weeks to ponder the future.

“I would never make a decision based on [the aftermath of the defeat.] You don’t think about that coming into a game like this. You’re just totally focussed on trying to get a result, and you’re not in a proper position to make that call.

“But look, maybe it is time to give someone else at it. We’ll see over the next couple of weeks. [I’ll] have a few chats with a few people, and see what way it goes.”
