There was little to choose between Kilkenny and Tipperary after the drawn game three weeks ago, but it was the Cats who were able to claw an advantage in Saturday's replay as they picked up a 2-17 to 2-14 victory.
Diarmuid 'Gizzy' Lyng and Daithi Regan were in studio, while Christy O'Connor joined us on the line to work out what changed in the three week window between final 1 and 2.
For Daithi and Gizzy, Kilkenny manager Brian Cody was able to work out a way of negating Tipperary's strengths because he was not expecting any surprise changes.
"Tipp have played the one way all year. They are really good ball-players, very accurate. When they're playing well, they can hit space and they don't look for contact. There's a lot of movement and space and it's a really good brand of hurling. If you were Brian Cody and you looked at the video time after time, to me Cody went to town on his analysis of Tipperary. He didn't have to second guess them," said Daithi, as Gizzy explained how Tipp's fluid style of hurling has a greater margin for error.
Gizzy also highlighted the ferocious tackling of Cody's Kilkenny which helped them build a platform by hunting Tipp players in packs.
O'Connor believes there is plenty for Tipp to build on as they look to go one step further next year.
"With Eamon [O'Shea], you can definitely say this is his team now. He has slowly integrated good young players," he said.
