Cork's hurlers look set to line out in blue to commemorate 1916

Cork's hurlers look set to move away from their traditional red jerseys when the face Kilkenny in the Allianz League clash in March.

According to the Irish Examiner, Kieran Kingston's side will wear blue jerseys in the game in Pairc Ui Rinn on March 12th. The jerseys will be part of the Cork County Board's commemoration of the 1916 Easter Rising.

Although now synonymous with their red and white kits, Cork looked more like the present day Tipperary team 100 years ago, with blue jerseys and a yellow C on the front of the kit.

Cork's goalkeepers in recent years have worn blue jerseys, but the rest of the team has stuck with their traditional red.

It will be interesting to see if other counties follow in the Cork County Board's path of remembering the events of 100 years ago by wearing throwback kits. Could we see other counties in colours that we would not normally associate them with?
