Kerry's Colm Cooper is to go under the knife next week, according to various reports this morning.
The Dr. Crokes star is to undergo shoulder surgery next week and is expected to miss the start of the Allianz League. The surgery is minor and it is expected the Killarney native will return in the latter stages of the league.
Cooper's last game in a Kerry jersey came in the All Ireland Football Final as his side lost to Dublin last September in Croke Park. It was the first time he failed to score in an All Ireland final after nine appearances in the showpiece.
It has been a testing off season for Kerry, with many players including former Player of the Year James O'Donoghue undergoing surgery. The Legion star is expected to miss at least four or five months with his shoulder problem.
