Kilkenny claimed their 36th All-Ireland as a second half master class lead to a come from behind victory for the Cats.
Kilkenny struugled in the first half, struggling to find a rhythm and get going with Galway dominant. Joe Canning in particular causing numerous problems for Cody's charges.
The opening 20 minutes seen the sides level throughout with each side never opening up to big a gap, two points being the largest margin. Kilkenny however having to work harder for their scores. Kilkenny got their goal after Walter Walsh's surging run set up TJ Reid to finish into the back of the net. Reid would go on to score 1-7.
The goal spurred on the Tribesmen and they began to open up a bit of a lead going into the break with with Cannin and Flynn causing problems. Flynn getting what was undoubtedly the score of the game.

Trailing 0-14 to 1-8 at the break, Kilkenny took over in the second-half and once they hit the front five minutes in, they never looked back.
Tj Reid producing a masterclass from the deadball and chipping on scores for Kilkenny, they soon found themselves five to the good. A late Joe Canning goal from a 20-yard free was merely a consolation score for the Tribesmen as the game was well and truly over.
Kilkenny under Cody have now won 11 All-Ireland titles, that's 11 in 17 years. Galway however have lost 6 All Ireland final's since Cody and Kilkenny one their first in 2000.
