Cavan county board released a tweet tonight with pictures purporting to show the arrest of their chairman and treasurer by Gardai during a meeting.
But as they later tweeted, the hoax was all part of a fundraiser.
In fairness, the people in the images released with the dramatic first tweet did look a bit too calm given the supposed circumstances:

But as they quickly clarified minutes later, the hoax arrests - with the Gardai in on the joke - were all part of the launch of a 'Jail Break' Fundraiser charity drive:
