Cavan captain has no issue taking on Dublin in Croke Park

As Cavan prepare to take on Dublin in an All-Ireland semi-final, captain Raymond Galligan insisted that they have no issue facing the reigning champions in Croke Park.

In circumstances that dictate there will be no fans in attendance, is there any need to play an All-Ireland semi-final between Cavan and Dublin in Croke Park?

The national venue that Dublin have made their own during a period of astonishing success, some believe (or hope, perhaps) that if this footballing juggernaut is to be stopped, an opponent's chances may be heightened if a game is not played on what amounts to Dublin's home ground.

On Monday's Off The Ball, Mike Quirke, the Kerry All-Ireland winner and Laois manager, and David Brady explored the option of a authentically neutral venue.

Speaking on Tuesday's show, however, the Cavan goalkeeper and captain Raymond Galligan shared his own view of where he would like to see the All-Ireland semi-final contested.

"It isn't something that has been spoken about at all," Raymond Galligan admitted to OTB Sports, "and it really doesn't bother me.

"Obviously, playing in Croke Park is lovely because that's where you always wanted to play and sure look, when you're playing the Dubs, you might as well play them on the biggest stage.

"It makes no difference, and I live in Dublin sure so I just have to tip over the road."

Since losing the 2014 All-Ireland semi-final to Donegal, Dublin's relentlessness in racking up five successive titles has seen the county remain unbeaten in championship football throughout that time.

Although Cavan were surprise winners against Declan Bonner's team on Sunday, neither Galligan nor Padraig Faulkner are overawed at the prospect of taking on Dublin in a little under two weeks time.

You can watch Raymond Galligan and Padraig Faulkner speaking to OTB Sports about Cavan's tremendous success and the days that have followed here
