'There's an anxious excitement just to see how Kilkenny adapt'

Recently retired Kilkenny hurler Brian Hogan believes the production line in the county is still healthy.

The 33-year-old joined Off The Ball on the line to preview the start of the season for the Cats, and highlighted manager Brian Cody's selection talents.

"Brian is a master of identifying players through the club championship, and coming up through the ranks there maybe wouldn't have been household names and bringing them into the senior fold and developing them or seeing potential in them," said Hogan, using himself as an example, before looking at how the Cats will replace the likes of JJ Delaney and Tommy Walsh.

"There's an anxious excitement just to see how Kilkenny adapt to the loss of the two lads in particular."

Hogan also spoke about the prospect of his younger brother, Keith, potentially getting game-time against Cork in this weekend's Allianz National Hurling League opener.

He also gave his take on Cody's move to place Paul Murphy at full-back for the game.
