It's championship time again this weekend and to look ahead to the opening clutch of games, we were joined by ex-Mayo footballer David Brady and former Meath midfielder Anthony Moyles on Off The Ball tonight.
Starting with Connacht, they looked at the major threats to Mayo's crown, which may come from a Galway side who get started against a Leitrim side shorn of star man Emlyn Mulligan.
Brady professed himself very wary of Galway's great potential under the management of Kevin Walsh.
"Kevin Walsh, I hated him as a player and I hate him as a manager because he has what it takes to beat the likes of Mayo," he said, adding that Mayo star forward Cillian O'Connor's possible absence from a potential tie with Galway in the Connacht semi-finals could have an impact.
Both agreed that Galway could come in with momentum from two games and Moyles noted some gaps that may begin to close this summer.
"Where Mayo have dominated before, in and around that midfield diamond, because of the size of the O'Sheas, these Galway lads are now starting to put a bit of weight on with the build and they'll tear into it," he said.
The big game this weekend will be in Ulster between Donegal and Tyrone and Brady suggested that home advantage could count for Donegal, while Moyles feels that a siege mentality will have been developed among the Red Hand County.
But he did note plenty of weaknesses: "They've got some excellent individual footballers but I still don't think they have enough up front and they still rely heavily on [Sean] Cavanagh and they are coming up against a team that are top two, top three in Donegal."
Moyles and Brady also quantified what the McGeeney factor could do for Armagh this summer.
