Armagh survived a scare to second half scare to defeat Wicklow in Round 1B of the Football Qualifiers by ten points in the Athletic Grounds. It finished 2-17 to 2-7 as Armagh move on to Monday mornings Round 2B qualifer draw.
Kieran McGeeney's side led by four points at half time as Armagh looked to be in control of the tie going into the break. A John McGrath goal for Wicklow kept the score respectable at half time.
Wicklow started the second half the stronger and cut the gap to a point after James Stafford scored early in the second half. That was as close as they were to get to Armagh as the Ulster side pulled away in the final ten minutes.
Jamie Clarke scored two late goals as McGeeney's side won by ten, in a result that was not as comfortable for Armagh as the scoreline suggests. It was the third Championship game in a row between the sides where Jamie Clarke found the back of the net twice.
The Crossmaglen star spoke to Off the Ball's Colm Parkinson after the game about his performance and the summer ahead for Armagh.
