Dybala to Man United: 'It's a FIFA signing' | OTB AM transfers with Stephen Kelly

Former Ireland international Stephen Kelly was on Wednesday’s OTB AM and gave his thoughts on Paulo Dybala potentially signing for Man United.

While Kelly recognised the talent that the Juventus man would bring to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, he was unconvinced that the Red Devils would get the most out of him.

He agreed that it would be something of a 'Fifa signing' as the club look to bring in another great player without really considering where he would fit into the side.

“He’s very talented. He’s great on the ball, he offers a lot of options, like in pockets. But will he fit into the system?

“Like we said, we don’t know what system Manchester United are going to play. We don’t know what his best team is. If you’re going to bring him in, you really have to play him.

“He plays well off the right coming in and linking up. He also plays well in the 10 role but then you’re disrupting Paul Pogba’s ability to join in and get forward. It’s a conundrum alright,” Kelly commented.

The potential signing is far from confirmed but with Lukaku looking to leave Man United, it could make sense for the club to do a swap deal with Juventus.

“It looks like it could happen.  [Romelu] Lukaku seems determined to get himself out so for that to happen they are going to need to get a lot of money for him, or it’s going to be a swap deal for someone.

“Dybala fits that because he’s going to be worth a lot of money,” Kelly said.

United aren’t the only ones interested in signing the 25-year-old Argentine and Kelly felt that he would be better off signing for another English club who could be losing a star player this summer.

“I think he’s a much better fit for Tottenham than he is for Manchester United. Pochettino has a system that he would fit into.

“Obviously that would mean Eriksen going to fill that. But if you’ve Eriksen you’re not going to bring in Dybala because it would be a conflict of interest,” Kelly said.

There’s been nothing confirmed as of yet, but his talent is undeniable and it’s not hard to see why United are eager to bring him into the fold.
