Former Kildare player Emmet Bolton says Kildare are not being coached to an appropriate level required.
Speaking on this afternoon’s Off The Ball Bolton thinks the lily whites haven’t stuck to their core roots that made them successful in the past.
Bolton believes the current Kildare side lack intensity like teams of past years.
“In terms of the tackling, the intensity and that type of stuff that would have been synonymous with Kildare maybe 6 or 7 years before hand under Kieran McGeeney,’ said Bolton
The former wing-back says Kildare have not kept up with scientific approach of the modern game, and must improve in order to not fall further behind.
“Maybe the game has gone too scientific at the minute,’ stressed the former Kildare player.
He says Cian O'Neill's side are not being coached to the level they need to be at in order to compete at the highest level of the sport.

Bolton also described Kildare for being traditionally referred to as a team with a 'soft touch'.
“Over the years Kildare would have always been seen as soft and played a hand passing game and that type of stuff, whereas I don’t think they are being trained to the level where they need to be trained at.
The former Eadestown man isn't sure if they have the resolve to really perform when the chips are down in a tough match.
He questioned if the methods of coaching were suitable for the players that Kildare have.
“In terms of - you’re two points down, you’re level, you’re two points up. Where you have to go to a dark place and revert back to a training where you say,’ I’m going to die here.’
