Derby County on their way to Wembley

Derby County will play Aston Villa in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on May 27.

Jack Marriott came off the bench to make the difference against Leeds United in an incredible game at Elland Road. Leeds took a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their semi-final and Marcelo Bielsa's side were firmly in the driving when Stuart Dallas scored in the 24th minute.

However, Derby manager Frank Lampard brought on Marriott just before half time and he scored with his first touch on the stroke of half time when he pounced on a mix-up at the back between Liam Cooper and goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

Within 13 minutes of the half, Mason Mount and Harry Wilson had Derby 3-1 up on the night and 3-2 ahead on aggregate. The scoring wasn't done there though as Dallas got his second just after the hour mark to level the tie up.

Gaetano Berardi was sent off for Leeds in the 78th minute and then five minutes from time Marriott got the winning goal five when he was played in by Richard Keogh.

There was also still time for Derby defender Scott Malone to see red but it was the only blot on the copybook for the Rams. Derby will play Aston Villa at Wembley on Monday, May 27 for a place in the Premier League.

Naturally, the 'Spygate' saga got mentioned after the game and the Derby celebrated by pretending to hold binoculars over their eyes.

Lampard said: "We weren’t crying over the spying incident, I haven’t thought about that in a long time."

Derby midfielder Mason Mount didn't give up the opportunity to give it a mention.

It was cruel on Leeds, who had been chasing one of the two automatic promotion places for most of the season. Manager Marcelo Bielsa was asked about his future after one season in charge.

The Argentinian said: "It's not as you can imagine convenient to talk about this point right now.

"If the club offers me the possibility to carry on I will listen to this proposal."
