David Mullins airlifted to hospital after fall at Thurles

Grand National winning jockey David Mullins has been airlifted to hospital after a heavy fall at Thurles this afternoon.

The 23-year-old, who won the Aintree Grand National on Rule The World, suffered that fall at the fourth fence while riding Lean and Kean in the www.thurlesraces.ie Handicap Chase at the Tipperary venue.

Racing was stopped for half and hour while Mullins was taken to Cork University Hospital where he's said to be "alert, speaking and moving all limbs".

Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board medical officer, Dr Linsey Mason, said: "David Mullins has been airlifted to Cork University Hospital for further investigation following a fall in the second race.

"David was alert, speaking, moving all limbs and comfortable leaving Thurles."
