Corofin keeper Bernard Power targets improvement after 'tough' win over Nemo

Corofin goalkeeper Bernard Power says they still have areas of their game to work on after an impressive victory over Nemo Rangers in Ennis this afternoon.

The Galway Kingpins have kept their defence of the AIB All-Ireland Club Football Championship title on track, beating the Munster champions by 6 points.

1-10 to 0-07 was the final score at the Clare venue with Micheál Lundy finding the back of the net for three-in-a-row chasing Corofin.

Nemo then didn't score until the 24th minute and at no point looked like they could have won this.

Speaking to Off The Ball after the game, Corofin shot-stopper Bernard Power said the positive start was crucial.

"We had to work hard. We knew getting the goal at the start was a massive plus for us. Our aim going into the game was to concede no goals. Thankfully we did that.

"Nemo definitely put it up to us and going in at half-time we knew it was going to be a game in the second-half and it definitely was. I don't know if the scoreline was as tight as they played us."

Power had an impressive display in what was his third consecutive game without conceding a goal but highlighted the need for improvement as his side prepare for another All-Ireland final.

"It starts with the kick-outs and ends with the shot-stopping but all the boys out on the field were top class and hopefully we can push on for two weeks time because there is still a lot of work to do."

Due to calendar changes, this year's final takes place in two weeks' time without the traditional break between fixtures building up to the showpiece on St. Patrick's Day.

Power isn't sure if this suits them better or not.

"It's hard to tell, I'll tell you after the next game.

"We have to sharpen up on our shooting really, it's great that you're getting the opportunities, once you get them they'll come right on the day."

Corofin will meet the winner of Down's Kilcoo and Leinster's Ballyboden St. Enda's in the decider on January 19th.
