Conor Sketches: all his stories and impressions on Off The Ball

Conor Moore - aka Conor Sketches - joined Golf Weekly to discuss his impressions and stories of famous golfers and more besides.

While his repertoire extends far further than just golf, it was the game that was on his mind when discussing the difficulties of impersonating players - as it differs from other sports regarding players' reputations.

"There are easy targets in the game and we can take the mick out of a few players, but in a very, very playful way.

"Golfers are universally-popular. When you're on the 18th green of any Major championship, the guy in the lead is getting a massive clap and he is getting cheered on. It's not a soccer game.

"Unless Tiger loses on the last or something, everyone is pretty happy for whoever wins, so by me calling out or insulting a golfer is just not going to wash.

"On top of that, any golfer that I have met has been really sound to me. I don't have any gripe with any of them. I always say with the comedy - whether it is the GAA, soccer or whatever - we're all laughing, I'm laughing and [the likes of] Poulter's laughing. Or Gary Player is laughing - it is not cutting in any way.

"There is not even a line you have to tread, but last year I wouldn't have touched the whole [Matt] Kuchar thing, but then I saw that even Phil was joking about it.

"I touched on it on the first episode of the Zoom, where he wouldn't pay the $9.99 for Netflix!

"That is what I tell the guys that write it - they [the subject] has to enjoy it."
