Ireland international Cyrus Christie joined The Football Show to discuss Aaron Connolly and his start at Hull City.
Aaron Connolly played five games and didn't score for Venezia.
The loan spell in Italy was supposed to help to restart his promising young career, but it didn't work out. Instead, he returned to Brighton so that he could join Hull City at midseason. Connolly is already at two goals in four games for Hull City.
He's still a long way away from an Ireland recall, but his form to start his time at Hull City is winning over fans and critics alike.
Cyrus Christie is an international teammate of Connolly and now a club teammate too. He only has positive things to say about the 23-year-old Galwegian.
"He's done well," Christie said.
"He's come in and done well, he's got talent you know. And he'll probably be the first to admit he hasn't lived his life right. Certain things haven't gone his way, but ultimately that's the only way you learn really."
Connolly was one of Stephen Kenny's preferred players a couple of years ago. But he didn't make the most recent Ireland squad. He definitely has the talent, but he needs to maintain good form if he is to force his way back onto the field in a green jersey.
Christie believes he can do it.
"If he can learn from that and if he can keep pushing himself, he's got that bite about him. He wants to do well. He wants to succeed. So I'm sure that he'll be putting his name in the hat for next month...obviously I'm an older statesman in this team so if anyone needs advice I'm more than happy to speak with them."
Christie himself will be hoping to make the Ireland squad as well and he knows he fits well in Stephen Kenny's preferred system. But he also knows Matt Doherty is the first choice at right-wing back right now.
