Celtic a step closer to Champions League group stages

Celtic have eased past Nomme Kalju to move a step closer to the group stages of the Champions League.

A first-half own goal and a debut strike from Marian Shved ensured the Scottish champions ran out 2-0 second-leg winners - completing a thumping 7-0 aggregate victory over their Estonian opponents.

Defender Christopher Jullien also made his first appearance for the Hoops and manager Neil Lennon is happy with how his summer signings are settling in.

"I'm not getting carried away but I'm pleased for the new boys coming in.

"Christopher had his first 90 minutes. I thought Olivier was outstanding considering that was his first real run out. And it was a great goal from Marian. He showed what he's capable of in a little cameo.

"I've also got Forrest and McGregor to factor in and Ajer and Edoaurd to come back as well. So the depth is looking a lot better and we're in a good place at the minute."

Lennon added that the treble winners are hoping to strengthen with "two or three" further signings while he's determined not to see winger Scott Sinclair leave Parkhead.

"A player with that experience is always so handy to have around.

""He's got a great goal record and he's had a great time at Celtic. So we don't want him to go. That's for sure."

They will play Romanian side CFR Cluj in the third round of qualifying.
