We want you to Run & Ride with OTB in a new challenge for Pieta House

Kevin Keane of Triathlon Ireland joined Eoin Sheahan, Nathan Murphy and Tommy Rooney on Tuesday's OTB AM to discuss OTB's latest big challenge - and he wants you to get involved too!

After the success of last year's Off The Ball triathlon in association with BMW Ireland, some members of the OTB staff are taking on another challenge in 2020 all for the good of Pieta House.

Across the next six weeks, a number of OTB staff members will be taking on a fresh challenge each week as we build toward a Duathlon to close the whole thing off in the final week.

"It's either going to be really enjoyable or really hard," concluded Kevin Keane of Triathlon Ireland of the challenges that await OTB team members. "Basically, the idea behind it is that you run and you ride a bike every week."

In the build-up to a Duathlon where you will run-ride-run all in one go, Kevin outlined what will be required of you if you would like to participate too.

"For people who haven't done this kind of thing before," he explained, "every week you will get a new challenge. It starts off pretty simple and you have to run 3 KM, ride 5 KM on another day and run 3 KM on a different day again - you don't have to do them all on the one day.

"Every week it gets a little harder up to Week 6 when you do an actual sprint-distance Duathlon - run 5 KM, get on the bike and ride 20 KM, get off and run 2.5 KM all without stopping.

"That is harder than it sounds. But this is designed to get you fitter week on week."

As Kevin explained, there is an expert challenge for those among you who would fancy your chances with the basic set-up.

Like all the details surrounding this event and what it is in aid of, you can find out more about that on the Triathlon Ireland website here.

"We know a lot of people have started running a bit," he noted of the upsurge in activity across recent months, "but it is good to have a plan and for people to have a goal."
