Serena Williams is the 2015 Wimbledon champion after defeating Garbine Muguruza, 6-4 6-4 in the final.
The World number 1 now holds all four Grand Slam titles after winning the previous three tournaments in Flushing Meadows, Melbourne and Roland Garros. If she retains her US Open title she will win the calendar Grand Slam. The last player to win all four titles in the same year was Steffi Graf in 1988.
Williams now is only one Grand Slam title behind the German Graf and lies on 21 titles.
Despite the straight sets win, the victory was far from straight foward with Murguruza coming back from 5-1 in the final set to pull it back to 5-4, before Williams broke the Spaniards serve to win with her second match point.
