Katie Taylor can secure a medal today at the European Games in Baku.

The Bray fighter faces Sweden's Ida Lundbland in her lightweight quarter final at 8.45am this morning.

Michael O'Reilly and Darren O'Neill take to the ring at 9.15am and 10am respectively while Brendan Irvine steps in for his light flyweight semi final at 3pm.

GAELIC FOOTBALL

Tomás Ó Flatharta has stepped down as Laois manager after two seasons in charge.

In a statement the former Westmeath and Galway boss says he looks back on the last few weekends with a huge sense of 'what might have been' but ultimately the buck stops with him and he take's responsibility for that.

Ó Flatharta adds during his tenure he started to implement structures and to instil values that will take Laois football forward.

In Connacht, a Provincial Council meeting tonight will decide the venue for this years Provincial football final.

Mayo take on Sligo with the game likely to take place in McHale Park or Pearse Stadium.

HURLING

The Munster Council have confirmed that this years Munster Final will place in Thurles on July 12th.

The Waterford and Tipperary County Boards came to an agreement last night.

Tonight there's two Bord Gais Energy Leinster Under 21 semi finals tonight.

In Tullamore holders Wexford face Offally while in Netwatch Cullen Park Carlow take on Kilkenny.

Sligo Rovers have parted company with manager Owen Heary.

It's been confirmed that Heary was sacked by the club two weeks ago amid reports that senior player Joseph N'Do (pr: En-dough) had been taking charge of training.

League of Ireland pundit, Stuart Byrne told Off the Ball last night, that both parties have spent the past fortnight trying to hammer out some sort of agreement

Liverpool have signed Brazil international Roberto Firmino from German side Hoffenheim, subject to a medical.

The attacking midfielder is currently playing in the Copa America in Chile.

The 23 year old has signed a "long term deal" with the club.

Liverpool have already signed striker Danny Ings and midfielder James Milner, as well as young defender Joe Gomez and goalkeeper Adam Bogdan this summer.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

Conor McGregor's UFC Featherweight title fight with Jose Aldo is in doubt.

Overnight reports suggest the Aldo broke a rib yesterday in training for the fight. Further confirmation is expected later today  with just over two weeks left to the fight.

UFC President Dana White took to Twitter last night to try and allay the fear of fans.
