The Final Whistle: Tipp and Clare's hurlers put their cards on the table

TENNIS

Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic will contest this year's Wimbledon final.

Federer has booked his place in the decider after a stunning straight sets win over Andy Murray in the second of today's semi-finals.

The seven-time champion produced a near faultless serving display to win 7-5, 7-5, 6-4.

The 33-year-old Swiss will now face reigning champion Djokovic in a repeat of last year's final after the Serb claimed an emphatic straight sets victory over Richard Gasquet.

GAA

The Tipperary hurlers have made two changes ahead of Sunday's Munster hurling final at Semple Stadium.

Ahead of their clash with Waterford, manager Eamon O'Shea has been able to recall fit-again Cathal Barrett.

The corner-back has recovered from a shoulder injury to line-out in defence, while wing-back Michael Breen makes his full Championship debut.

The Clare hurlers have named their team ahead of tomorrow's All Ireland qualifier against Cork at Semple Stadium.

Manager Davy Fitzgerald has selected the same 15 that started last weekend's win over Offaly, which means that All Star midfielder Colm Galvin starts on the bench.

The other big surprise is that there is no immediate recall for team-captain Patrick Donnellan who is available again after suspension.

He will join Galvin among the subs.

In football, Dublin have made just one change ahead of Sunday's Leinster final against Westmeath.

James McCarthy has been restored to the half-back line instead of John Small, in what is the only change in personnel from the side that defeated Kildare last time out.

There iss also a positional switch in attack, with Kevin McManamon moving to full-forward as Diarmuid Connolly moves out to wing-forward.

SOCCER

In the SSE Airtricity League First Division, Finn Harps comfortably beat their hosts, Waterford United 3-0 at the RSC to return to the top of the table.

Nathan Boyle's scored twice against the division's basement side, sandwiching a goal from Raymond Foy.

Shelbourne came out on top in the Dublin derby against Cabinteely at Stradbrook thanks to a lone goal from James English on 55 minutes.

GOLF

Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell are both three shots off the lead at the Scottish Open.

Both players carded a second consecutive rounds of 66 today to sit on 8-under par heading into the weekend.

England's Daniel Brooks is the outright leader by three shots on 11-under.

Michael Hoey finished on 5-under par, with Padraig Harrington another back.

RACING

There was racing today in Cork and in Navan.

The final result in Navan was in the Come Racing 5th September Handicap, which went to the 5-to-1 shot Vale Do Sol.

The last race of the evening in Cork was the Buy Online At corkracecourse.ie Flat Race, which was won by the Aidan O'Brien trained Captain Barbossa at odds of 13/8.
