The GAA and the Irish Sports Council have banned an inter-county footballer for failing a drug test.
Monaghan footballer Thomas Connolly has been handed a two-year ban after he tested positive for a banned steroid called Stanozolol during an out of competition test in mid-February.
Connolly, from the Latton club, has had his ban reduced from the standard punishment of four years after the GAA's Anti-Doping Hearings Committee agreed that the failed test was not intentional.
The Gaelic Players Association has issued a statement tonight in which it reminds all members of the GAA community that they have "a responsibility to ensure that players, particularly new panellists, are aware of the Anti-Doping Code"
In a further blow to the Monaghan squad ahead of this Sunday's Ulster semi-final against Fermanagh, full-back Drew Wylie has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

The Aidan O'Brien trained Gleneagles stormed to victory in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The brilliant three-year-old has added to his English and Irish 2000 Guineas wins from earlier in the season after winning the feature race on opening day by two and a half lengths.
