The Final Whistle: Davy reveals his hand

GAA

Colm Galvin has been included in the Clare squad ahead of Saturday's All Ireland qualifier against Offaly.

The former All-Ireland winner has made a welcome return to the Banner setup after returning home from the States just last week.

In a further boost, Conor McGrath and Aaron Cunningham have both recovered from hamstring injuries while Brendan Bugler is available after suspension.

Manager Davy Fitzgerald will name his starting team on Friday night.

TENNIS

Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have both advanced to the third round at Wimbledon.

Djokovic continued the defence of his men's title with a convincing win over Finland's Jarko Nieminen on centre court while Williams also won in straight sets today to setup a fourth-round match-up against home favourite, Heather Watson.

There were also wins for Maria Sharapova, Stan Wawrinka and Venus Williams but fifth seed Kei Nishikori has withdrawn from

The men's draw with a calf injury while former World No 1 Ana Ivanovic suffered a surprise early exit from the women's draw.

SOCCER

Liverpool have completed their sixth signing of the summer.

England full-back Nathaniel Clyne is moving to Anfield from Southampton after the two clubs agreed a £12.5M transfer fee.

The Reds have made room for Clyne in their squad by off-loading Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates to Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.

HOCKEY

The Irish men's hockey team will face Pakistan in the 5th-to-8th place play-offs at this week's World League tournament in Belgium.

Earlier, the Irish team missed-out on a chance to secure qualification for the Rio2016 Olympics after a 4-1 loss to World Champions Australia, but they could still book a place at next year's games with a fifth place finish this week in Antwerp.

RUGBY

Nigel Owens will take charge of Ireland's pool match against France at this year's Rugby World Cup.

The Welsh referee has been entrusted with the game, which could prove to be the deciding match in Pool D.
