Zach Johnson has been crowned Open champion after a dramatic final day of action at St Andrews.
The 39-year-old American defeated Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman in a three-man play-off that crowned a dizzying final round that saw the trio finish on 15-under par.
Johnson was the better performer during the four-hole play-off, birdieing the opening two holes to take control of the contest.
But he still had to wait for Oosthuizen to miss a birdie putt on the 18th before he was assured of victory.
Meanwhile, it was a disappointing final round for the two Irish players who had started the morning in contention.
Padraig Harrington posted a 3-over par 75 that left him on 7-under par.
And Paul Dunne could not take home the silver medal as the leading amateur as a consolation after a 78 that saw him finish on 6-under.
Earlier, Graeme McDowell finished on 2-under par after carding a 4-under par round of 70.

The GAA has confirmed a Croke Park double header for Round 4B of the All-Ireland qualifiers, which will be held on Saturday week.
Sligo will face Tyrone at 4pm, while Donegal will meet Galway from 6pm.
Meanwhile, Kildare and Cork's qualifier clash will take place in Semple Stadium this Saturday evening at 7pm, while Fermanagh meet Westmeath in Kingspan Breffni Park at 5pm.
