Riot Police clash with Hungary fans trying to scale fences at Stade Velodrome before Euros clash with Iceland

There were further crowd disturbances at the Euros today as Hungary fans clashed with riot police inside the Stade Velodrome ahead of their Group F meeting with Iceland.

Fans were allegedly trying to climb the fence at the stadium in order to link up with other supporters who were positioned behind the goals.

Fighting ensued among the spectators before riot police intervened. An estimated 100 Hungarians were involved in the clashes and many of them managed to cross over before the police moved in to block off the area. A flare was also lit in the Hungarian fans' section during the national anthem.

Pepper spray was apparently used to subdue the hostilities.

This recent spate of violence follows the ructions which took place during Euro group games yesterday and earlier in the week. Turkey and Croatia have both been charged by UEFA for disturbances during their respective matches on Friday.

Earlier in the week, Russia was issued a warning on the back of fan disturbances during their game against England and have been told they could be thrown out of the competition if more violence erupts.
