GOLF

Rory McIlroy is two shots behind the leaders going into Day 2 of the Players Championship in Sawgrass.

The World number one is 3 under after a 69, Hideki Matsuyama , David Hearn, Charley Hoffman and Kevin Na share the lead on 5 under.

Padraig Harrington will start his day 1 under while Graeme McDowell and Shane Lowry are 1 over .

McIlroy says he's targeting low scores - though he knows it's an unpredictable place to play:

CRICKET

Ireland face England in a one day international from 10.45 this morning although rain may stop play as showers are forecast.

England will field an inexperienced side - with many senior players unavailable due to their recent Test tour of the West Indies.

Ireland batsman Ed Joyce - who used to play for England - reckons it'll be a tight contest.

RUGBY

Leinster welcome Treviso to the RDS tonight needing a win as they look to qualify for the Champions Cup next season.

Kick off is at 7.35pm

Elsewhere, the Dragons host Edinburgh at Rodney Parade, while the Ospreys go up against the Glasgow Warriors at the Liberty Stadium.

SOCCER

St Patrick's Athletic host Shamrock Rovers tonight in the Airtricity League Premier Division.

Also tonight, Bohemians will host Limerick FC at Dalymount Park, Cork City entertain Sligo Rovers at Turner’s Cross, while Galway United go up against Derry City and managerless Bray Wanderers visit Drogheda United.

All five games will kick-off at 7.45pm

There's also four games in the First Division.

Leaders Finn Harps will host Waterford United in one of three 8pm kick-offs in the second tier.

Meanwhile, the Championship play-offs will get underway tonight.

Brentford's surprise sixth-place finish has earned them a play-off semi-final tie against Middlesbrough, who narrowly missed-out on automatic promotion.

Kick-off there is also at 7.45pm.
