POLL: What was Ireland's best sporting experience of 2014?

The Irish Sports Awards will honour those outstanding sports people who make significant contributions to Irish Sports on both a local and international stage.

The event will also feature the Newstalk Listeners' Choice Award for Sporting Experience of The Year (2014) and we want you to vote.

In addition to recognizing current sportspeople across a range of disciplines, the awards will also honour ‘The Legends of Irish Sport’ representing some of the greatest sports people of a generation.

This year will also see the announcement of the inaugural Dr Jack Kyle Outstanding Achievement in Rugby Award, in honour of one of Ireland’s legendary rugby players.

The Hall of Fame Legends on the night include:

  • Paul McGrath & David O’Leary, Ireland’s Soccer Heroes, 25th anniversary, Italia ’90
  • International Legend “Irish” Micky Ward, WBU Light Welterweight Champion 2000
  • The Irish Triple Crown Winning Rugby Team 1985 - Celebrating 30 years
  • Tony Ward - Irish, Munster and British & Irish Lions Rugby Hero
  • GAA Warrior: 
    - DJ Carey - Kilkenny hurler: nine All Stars and five All Irelands
    - Mick O’Dwyer - As a Kerry player: four All Irelands and as Kerry manager: eight All Irelands
    - Tony Hanahoe - Dublin footballer: one All Star and three All Irelands
  • David Walsh, Sports Journalist - Outstanding Contribution to Sport
  • Ronnie Delany, Olympic Gold Medallist 1956

  • Sports Person of the Year
  • Team of The Year
  • Coach/ Manager of The Year
  • Breakthrough of The Year
  • Sporting Experience of The Year – Newstalk Listeners' Choice Award
