Final Whistle: Dublin and Tipp win provincial deciders

GAELIC GAMES

Tipperary are Munster Senior Hurling champions after beating Waterford in today's decider at Semple Stadium.

8 points from Maurice Shanahan weren't enough for the Deise as they fell 5 points short - John O'Dwyer and Seamus Callanan doing most of the scoring damage for the Premier county.

21 points to 16 was the final score in Thurles as Tipperary claimed their 41st provincial crown.

Waterford now face Dublin in the quarter-finals in two weeks' time, while Tipp are out again on the 16th August for their All-Ireland semi-final.

Dublin have now made it 5 Leinster football titles in a row after beating Westmeath in today's provincial decider at Croke Park.

The Dubs led by just 4 points at the break, but goals from Bernard Brogan and Jack McCaffrey after half-time ended the game as a contest.

2-13 to 6 points is how it finished.

Earlier, Kildare were crowned Leinster minor champions after beating Longford on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-9.

There's been something of an upset in the qualifiers this afternoon as Roscommon have been knocked out of the football championship.

Fermanagh came from behind to beat John Evans' side 1-14 to 16 points in the Round 3A clash.

Meanwhile, Galway are through to the next round on the 2B side after beating Armagh 1-12 to 12 points.

TENNIS

Novak Djokovic has won a second consecutive men's singles title at Wimbledon after beating Roger Federer in today's final.

Roger Federer surrendered two set points to concede the first set 7-6, but responded well to take the second which also went to a tie-break.

Djokovic won the third 6-4, before breaking early in the fourth and final set which he won 6-3.

It's his third time winning the tournament and the Serb paid tribute to his opponent during his trophy presentation.
