Sinn Féin to table motion calling on Northern Irish First Minister to stand aside
Sinn Féin will table a proposal in the Stormont Assembly tomorrow afternoon calling for Arlene Foster to stand aside as Northern Ireland’s First Minister.
The proposal will call for Ms Foster to step back in order to facilitate an independent investigation into the so-called ‘cash for ash’ scheme.
The scandal revolves around the Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) scheme which was designed to encourage businesses to replace older heating sources with more eco-friendly alternatives.
UN agrees compromise draft resolution on Aleppo observers
The United Nations Security Council has agreed a compromise draft resolution to send independent officials to monitor the evacuation of civilians from Aleppo.

Thousands of civilians remain trapped in the city.
Russia had threatened to veto a French proposal to send observers to the city to monitor evacuations and report on the protection of civilians.
However, Russia’s UN envoy Vitaly Churkin told journalists on Sunday evening that the council has now agreed a “good text” of a resolution on evacuation monitoring.
Meath County Council takes legal action for return of €4.3m
Meath County Council has confirmed it has taken legal proceedings to secure the return of €4.3 million euro in funds, which have been frozen in a bank in Hong Kong after a cyber attack.
A Garda and Interpol investigation is also underway through the Financial Intelligence Unit.
The council has obtained a court order to freeze the funds and is applying for a further order to have the money returned - however it remains unclear how long the process may take.
Ulster come off second best in France
Ulster came off second best in their Champions Cup match with Clermont Auvergne in France earlier on Sunday to leave their participation in the competition hanging by a thread.

The men from the north never recovered from an error-strewn first half left them trailing 21-0 at the break.
Clermont flew out of the blocks when Isaiah Toeava broke through the Ulster lines to give the home side the perfect start with Morgan Parra adding the extras.
