Dejan Lovren omitted from Croatia's provisional Euro 2016 squad

Dejan Lovren did not make the cut for Croatia's 27-man provisional squad for Euro 2016 and will not travel to France this sumemr, after a reported but up with management.

The Liverpool defender is reported to have approached manager Ante Cacic demanding a starting position in the team and if he did not get one, he would not travel to France.

"I already said when appointed as coach that the Croatia squad is above any individual," said Cacic, "I will not give up that view for anyone.

"In Croatia's locker room there is no place for ultimatums, there should be respect for the Croatian jersey, team-mates and coach.”

"Playing in the national team requires good form and total commitment at club and international level. We want to keep a sound atmosphere in the dressing-room.

"I haven't closed the door on Lovren for good, he can return one day if he realises that he has to be a team player," he continued.

"When it dawns on him that he can't look down on his team-mates, the staff and the coach, he will perhaps find a way to get back in."
